Everything should be about putting our children first…

Parent/School Partnership

In order to see our students thrive, a trusted and respectful relationship between parents and teachers/administrators needs to be fostered.  The LCSD’s Family & Community Engagement Statement highlights the importance of such a partnership and emphasizes the value of collaboration, mutual respect, and open dialogue to support students' success.  If implemented successfully, this could be the key to improved student behavior, boosted academic achievement, and enhanced student well-being.

School/Community Engagement

In 2017, the Town of Kershaw received a two-year Community Heart & Soul grant which encouraged residents of the 29067-zip code to share those aspects that are of highest importance to our community.  Of the more than 1300 surveys collected, “Education” emerged as an aspect of primary significance.  Key take-aways from local voices included: expanding communication about school events, encouraging youth involvement/volunteerism in the community, and partnering with town officials and local businesses to promote the artistry of our local students.  By carrying through with these initiatives, we can help strengthen the link between education and community, fostering a supportive and engaged environment for students.

Policy Focus

I will serve to uphold and institute policies that promote transparency, focus on student academic success, protect children, encourage hands-on involvement, and use tax dollars responsibly.

Support for Teachers

Educators today have one of the toughest jobs out there!  Managing diverse classrooms, meeting various academic standards, dealing with challenging behavioral issues, and often working with limited resources are all in day’s work.  As a result, our district needs to offer strong support in terms of adequate resources, discipline issues, and dealing with bureaucratic challenges. By addressing these areas, we can help create a more positive and effective teaching environment and in doing so, put our children first.
